Great Portland Street

Great Portland Street, our ninth appointment for The Office Group to development a new co-working office, meeting room space and head office for the Group. This building was originally constructed in 1913 for Smiths Industries; the makers of the first ever speedometers. Matrix worked closely with the Client and award wining Architects Stiff & Trevillion to pull some of that character back and deliver this challenging project.

    Old Bailey

    Matrix Consult were appointed as Employer’s Agent and Cost Consultants for the demolition of the existing building and the development of 90,000ft² of office accommodation arranged over 9 floors at 7-10 Old Bailey London. The landmark building boasts a curved internal atrium that catches reflections of St Paul’s Cathedral, whilst the front elevation includes oriel windows within the Portland Stone facade.

    The demolition and rebuilding works were particularly onerous due the potential noise impact to the adjoining neighbours of the Crown Central Criminal Courts. Matrix acted to ensure the demolition and main contractor carried out the works within acceptable noise levels whilst maintaining the programme. The project was delivered to programme.
